Over the summer, all of our band uniforms were sent out for dry cleaning — but they didn’t come back until just recently, which has put us behind schedule on refitting students for the season.
In the past, we’ve tried to fit uniforms after school, but we always end up missing a few kids in the shuffle. This year, we’re wondering if our parent group is strong enough to help us fit uniforms during the school day instead.
What’s Involved
Fitting each student includes:
- Suit jacket
- Suit pants
- Overlay
- Marching shako (hat)
- Shoes
No tailoring experience is required — you just need to be comfortable sorting through clothing racks and reading a measuring tape. A list of responsibilities will be provided to each volunteer on the day of the fitting to make things as simple as possible.
Fittings run most smoothly with 4 volunteers per time slot. Ideally, rehearsal will continue with the other students while fittings are happening, but we’ll play that part by ear.

Our most urgent need is for 6th hour (Freshmen) — if you can only help with one slot, that’s the one we need most.
